Welcome to the Town of Steuben located in northern Oneida county. Established in 1792 on the tract of land granted to Baron Von Steuben by the State of New York, the town has a total area of 42.7 square miles and is comprised of beautiful rolling hills and valleys. Steuben, a rural town with a long agricultural history, affords residents a strong sense of community and an excellent quality of life.

A trip to the Adirondack Foothills would not be complete without a stop at the Steuben Memorial State Historic Site. The site is a unit of the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation operated through a partnership agreement with the National Park Service at Fort Stanwix National Monument. On and off site programs for school groups and organizations as well as group tours are provided by appointment only. Admission to the site is Free. The site is partially accessible and special accommodations available with advanced notice.

The Steuben Memorial State Historic Site is located on Starr Hill Road in the Town of Steuben. It is about 2.5 miles west of Route 12/28, north of Utica, NY. Gravesite and large stone memorial for Major General Baron von Steuben ( 1730 - 1794) within the "Sacred Grove", commemorative and picturesque historic park offers replica cabin, picnic area, restrooms, panoramic view of the beautiful historic Steuben and Mohawk Valleys. Facility hosts a variety of summer programs focusing on the later life, death and commemoration of this great American hero.
